The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills funds a £400,000 project to create employment hubs and other upskilling initiatives in the area.


The Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) has submitted its response to the Government's suggested South East Plan amendments.

Local Members of Parliament gathered in Fareham last Friday (27/02/09) for an update briefing from the Chairman and Managing Director of the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire.


PUSH has today unveiled its review of its Business Plan for 2009-11, which recognises the impact of the recession and focuses strongly on measures to support the South Hampshire economy with particular emphasis on skills, training and other measures to help people into work.


PUSH has agreed a £18M investment strategy for South Hampshire over the next two years, helping to boost the local economy, with a range of projects designed to provide an immediate boost for construction and infrastructure improvement, whilst recognising the need to continue to prepare schemes and projects for the future, ready for the uplift in the economy.


Thirteen teams of young people from schools in south Hampshire will set showcase their environmentally sustainable product or service and present a “Dragons Den” to a panel of business and innovation judges in the Grand Final Trade Show of the PUSH AHEAD! Young Entrepreneurs’ Challenge on Thursday 2 April. The winning team will be presented with a trophy and prize of £500 sponsored by BDO Stoy Hayward.


PUSH welcomes today's announcement of a £20m Government grant to finance phase one of the proposed Bus Rapid Transit scheme, running between Fareham and Gosport. The funding comes from the Community Infrastructure Fund, set up by the Government to provide infrastructure to support housing delivery in growth areas.


Ringwood School has won the PUSH AHEAD Young Entrepreneurs’ Challenge and walked away with a trophy and £500 sponsored by BDO Stoy Hayward. Called “the energypreneurs”, the winning team beat 12 other finalist teams from schools in South Hampshire after showcasing their environmentally sustainable business product in a Trade Show and presenting to a “Dragons Den” panel of business and innovation judges.


PUSH broadly welcomes the Secretary of State’s belated publication of the final version of the South East Plan, following consideration by the Government of the consultation responses to their Proposed Changes to the Plan published last year.


With an investment commitment of over £75m, by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) the national housing and regeneration agency, South Hampshire sub region is set to grow by over 1300 affordable new homes.


Following this morning’s triumphant ‘housing pledge’ announcement by newly promoted Housing Minister John Healey, PUSH has been shocked to learn that far from the straightforward increase in housing investment which seemed to be on the way, the Government are in fact planning to cut their capital grant to PUSH and other Growth Points by nearly 50%.


The Department of Work and Pensions has today (Wednesday 29 July) awarded a grant of £5,850,000 to an innovative new scheme designed to help people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight return to work.


Collaborate 2 Innovate (C2I) 2009 is a project initiated by the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) to contribute to ensuring knowledge exchange and innovation are at the centre of economic development in the South Hampshire sub-region. Priceless advice and collaboration opportunities providing the catalyst for innovation and economic growth are among the highlights fast growth businesses and investors can expect at C2I on 6th October in Southampton.


Southampton Airport is announcing its support of the 2010 search for South Hampshire’s young entrepreneurs in the ‘PUSH Ahead Challenge’. The challenge is open to every school and college in South Hampshire, and will see teams of students designing and creating innovative products and services for use in an airport. The project is the first in a series of events planned throughout 2010 to mark the centenary of flying from Southampton Airport.
