Local Area Agreements are three year agreements, based on local Sustainable Community Strategies, that set out the priorities for local areas. An agreement is made between Central Government, represented by the Government Office (GO), and a local area, represented by the lead local authority and other key partners through Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs).
PUSH partner authorities agreed that progressing action on some of the key economic targets covered by the LAA process would benefit from a partnership approach. The process for Urban South Hampshire involves three LAAs: Hampshire (which commenced in April 2006 and ‘refreshed’ in April 2007), Portsmouth and Southampton (commenced in April 2007). The three LSPs have sought to align key components of the Economic Development ‘block’ of their LAAs, which allows PUSH priorities to be translated into actions for each LAA, including:
