Havant Town Centre Refurbishment

What the project is:

Several phases of a larger strategic project aimed at delivering the refurbishment of Park Road in Havant town centre, comprising:

Background:

Havant town centre is a key gateway to the Borough and a focus for services, employment and retail as well as being an important transport interchange for onward travel. Therefore, the vitality and urban quality of the town centre is a critical factor in securing sustainable regeneration of the Borough.  With the significant housing development proposals of 6,300 dwellings within the Borough, the project will play a key role in making the quality of the public realm in the town centre attractive to investors, developers, and future occupants.

Park Road, having originally been a by-pass but now absorbed by the town, divides retail development to the West from the town centre to the East. In pedestrianising the road into a more accommodating ‘boulevard’, the aim is to promote a better balanced relationship between the two sides of the road and nurture equitable and continuous development throughout the area.
